Walt Disney Studios has seen the release of several live action remakes over the past few years. Remakes of "Cinderella", "The Jungle Book" and "The Beauty and the Beast" have achieved great success and as such, Disney has placed the order for even more live action remakes.

Live action 'Mulan' to be released in 2018

Walt Disney Studios first made "Mulan" as an animated movie in 1998. The exciting story of strong female character 'Mulan' served well as a role model for young girls. Now fans, old and new, will be delighted to see their hero in theaters in live action form!

Director Niki Caro, known for McFarland, will be bringing this Disney movie to life.

There is some controversy about whether or not this remake will feature music from the original. As of yet there has been no indication that music will feature but it is not being entirely ruled out either. Contradicting statements have been released over the months so it may be best to wait until the movie release in November 2018. As of the actor who will be playing the heroine Mulan no name has been released. However, a casting call was put out by Disney asking for a Chinese actor and fans are delighted that the company are avoiding white washing of the movie.

Emily Blunt to play Mary Poppins in remake of the original classic

"Mulan" is not the only Disney movie set to be released in 2018. A remake of the 1964 "Mary Poppins" movie is set to be released one month later in 2018. The movie offers a nice surprise as creator of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda, will also be starring as character Jack the lamplighter for a musical performance.

Fans can be reassured that this Disney movie is definitely going to be featuring a lot of music.

This movie is set to be a sequel of sorts to the original as character Mary Poppins returns to visit the now grown up Michael and Jane Banks. It will be interesting to see the adult versions of these characters interacting with Mary Poppins.

It is a challenge when creating movies where the children are now grown up, as there is a risk of backlash from the audience. However, with all the finesse and talent of Walt Disney Studios one can easily put their mind to rest.

Fans are delighting over the Christmas showings of not only one, but two, Disney Movies in 2018! The promise of even more Disney adaptations by the studios helps to fuel this excitement as the likes of "The Lion King", "The Sword in the Stone" and "Dumbo" are rumored to be next in line for Die-hard fans.
