Lately, celebrity moms are speaking out about the Postpartum Depression. After Courtney Cox, Amanda Peet, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Brooke Shields opened up about their postpartum depression experience, actress Sarah Michelle Gellar decided to do the same.
Sarah still thinks about postpartum depression experience from 2009
The actress shared the experience on her Instagram account on Tuesday, May 9. It happened back in 2009 when she gave birth to her daughter Charlotte.
Even though Sarah coped with this problem many years ago, it made such a great impact on the actress that she simply cannot forget about it.
Sarah published a black and white photo of herself and baby Charlotte and wrote that even though having kids is life changing and wonderful, no one is actually prepared for the experience. She said that she loves her children very much but she had very hard time dealing with postpartum depression. It was hard getting through it but the actress had a lot of help and now she is grateful and cherishes every day of her life.
A noble call to action
Sarah finished her message with a noble Call To Action. She wants everyone dealing with this problem to know that they are not alone and that things will eventually get better.
The actress is also aware of the fact that postpartum depression is not covered by a healthcare and that something has to be done about it. That is why she published a link which people can use in order to state their mind about the issue and their opinions will be addressed to authorities.
Postpartum depression is a serious problem and all women that are planning to be mothers should educate themselves about it. Great sadness, emptiness, numbness, irritation, anger and guilt are just some of the symptoms you can feel after you become a mom and they all indicate to postpartum depression.So, educate yourself, feel free to seek help, talk openly about this and remember that you are no alone!
