The stars of “Return To Amish” are no strangers to scandals. Despite what has been portrayed on the different shows chronicling their lives, the stars have lived quite non-Amish lives for a long time. Abe and Rececca Schmucker, Sabrina High, Jeremiah Raber and Kate Stoltz have been involved in several scandals long before “Breaking Amish” even started.
The secret lives of Abe and Rebecca Schmucker
The first episode of “Breaking Amish” shows Abe and Rebecca meeting for the very first time. That was not the case. The two not only had met before the show started, they even had a child together.
Rumors swirled around who the father of Kayla, Rebecca's daughter, could be. The couple claimed they could not discuss the little girl's paternity, adding to the mystery and the speculation. Fans of the show wondered if Rebecca even knew who the father was. Abe and Rebecca later shared results of a paternity test. It was then revealed Abe was the little girl's father. This raised more questions as to whether or not Abe and Rebecca knew he was Kayla's father, seeing they weren't allowed to talk about it.
Sabrina High's television debut
Despite what the producer of “Breaking Amish” wanted viewers to believe, Sabrina High's television debut was not on the TLC's hit show. According to IMDB, she first appeared on an alleged documentary about Amish weddings.
The show was billed as a documentary, despite the fact Sabrina High wore traditional Amish clothing on the show. Fans of “Return to Amish” know Sabrina is not Amish. In fact, she is the only member of the star of the different Amish series who was not born Amish. She was raised Mennonite by her adoptive parents.
Sabrina High has been involved in more recent scandals as well.
She became an unwed mother during the first season of “Return to Amish.” She gave birth to her daughter, Oakley during that season of the show. She was not involved in the second season because she was homeless. It appears her homelessness was due to her addiction to heroin. That was when she lost custody of her baby daughter.
Sabrina High fought back. In season three, she had gotten of heroin and managed to get custody of her daughter. She also gave birth to her second daughter, Arianna. She then lost custody of Oakley again.
The fourth season of “Return to Amish” appears will be about Sabrina's fight to get custody of her daughter. At the time of publication, it was unknown why she lost custody of little Oakley again. Her fans are hoping she has not started heroin again.
Jeremiah Raber has a violent past
Jeremiah Raber had not been living as Amish long before “Breaking Amish” debuted. In fact, he had been married, fathered children and had lived in the English world. These facts were exposed before the series ended.
Jeremiah had left his Amish world. While living away from the Amish, he had been arrested for domestic violence. His former wife was granted an order of protection against Jeremiah. He was even unable to see his children.
Once again, Jeremiah Raber's violent side has made the news. He was arrested for domestic violence again. His second wife, Carmela, filed charges against him shortly before the new season of “Return to Amish” aired.
Kate Stoltz lived it up in Florida
The bishop's daughter and now fashion model, Kate Stoltz was not free from scandal either. She had left her Amish community before “Breaking Amish” debuted. She had lived in Florida, in the English world, despite what the series wanted viewers to believe.
While living in Florida, Kate was arrested for driving under the influence. Facts surrounding her time in Florida aren't known. It is possible she was there participating in the Amish tradition of Rumspringa. This tradition is when Amish (and some Mennonite) teens and/or young adults leave their communities to see the world. This is usually done before the young Amish are baptized. It gives them the opportunity to decide if they want to live the rest of their lives as Amish or if they want to live in the English world. Once they are baptized, if they live the Amish way of life, they are shunned. They are not usually shunned by their families and communities if they leave before they are baptized.
Unlike the other Cast Members, Kate Stoltz has managed to stay out of trouble after her time living in Florida. She is busy with her career in the fashion industry. At the time of publication, it was unknown what her standing with her Amish family and community could be.
Based on the past actions of the cast members of “Return to Amish,” it is unknown what will happen during the current season of the TLC hit show. Fans will have to stay tuned. As always, anything is possible.
