To have a prince get smitten with a commoner might be all too fairytale-ish, but such is not the case for Meghan Markle. The "Suits" actress is currently dating British royal, Prince Harry, and with the rate of how their relationship is going, speculations have been sprouting here and there that a wedding might be happening soon. However, since Prince Harry is from a royal family, there are some family traditions that might hinder his wedding to the 35-year old actress.
Prince William's marriage to a non-royal woman, Kate Middleton, might have been an exception, as well as Prince Charles' wedding to Princess Diana. What could be the fate for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding? Will Queen Elizabeth allow the youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana to marry an American actress?
Another wedding at Westminster Abbey
According to reports, palace protocols might allow Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wedding to be held at the famous Westminster Abbey. In fact, the church has reportedly clarified that there were no rules preventing the couple to get married there.
However, sources revealed that there was a rule in the past that forbid divorcees to get married in Westminster Abbey. Such rule is quite a big deal and takes a strike on Meghan Markle since she is actually a divorcee. The "Horrible Bosses" actress was previously married to Trevor Engelson for two years until they divorced in 2013. Nevertheless, the new statement from the church did not mention anything about the said old rule, making way for their wedding in the future.
What about Meghan Markle's Jewish background?
If anything, this newfound relationship is proving that true love can defy all odds and break all rules. Being the girlfriend of a British royal, the "Remember Me" actress has been getting a lot of background checks not only from admirers of Prince Harry but also from the media as well.
It can be remembered that the 32-year old British royal had to pull some strings in the Kensington Palace to release a public statement requesting the media to respect his girlfriend's personal space.
In line with that, some information that were uncovered about Meghan Markle revealed that she has a Jewish background. This is another possible breach that could jeopardize a wedding inside Westminster Abbey. However, sources revealed that her Jewish background is not enough grounds to prevent an interfaith marriage inside the Church. As of writing, an official statement pertaining to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle wedding has yet to be released.
