Hey, "Quantico" fans. We wish we had some better news for you, today, but unfortunately, your favorite show's season three status is in limbo right now. However, there is some slightly good news, coming from our TV Line sources. According their renewal report card, they're rating it a "safe bet" to get renewed. The only ratings that are better, is " a sure thing," and "officially renewed." But yeah, realistically speaking, the show is certainly on the bubble, right now. It did experience some ratings drops over the course of its second season run.
Viewers gradually dipped
The 2nd season started out with a 0.96 rating in the 18-49 age demographic, which was already down a -50 percent from the season 1 finale episode. The amount of viewers were, 3.6 million, which was also down from the season 1 finale episode by about -49 percent. From there, we've seen the ratings and viewers gradually dip and come back up a little bit. However, overall, they've gone down. For example, the last episode that aired last week, May 8th,2017, delivered a 0.60 demographic rating, along with 2.8 million viewers. Also, none of the episodes never were able to get back up to that 3.6 million range that the premiere kicked off with.
Not until 2018?
Something tells me if this show does get renewed, we could possibly see a shorter season.
And if the ratings keep dropping off from there, then it's going to be lights out for this one, I'm afraid. If that weren't enough, I'm hearing more bad news from movienewsguide.com. They're claiming that if the 3rd season happens, it probably won't show up until sometime in 2018 due to the fact that the lead actress, Priyanka Chopra, who plays character, Alex Parrish, is not going to be available due to her new, busy schedule with movies and such.
However, we don't know how true this actually is. I find it hard to believe that she can just put the show on hold like that unless she got preggers or something of that nature.
Any day now
Currently, there's no word on when ABC will deliver up their big renewal or cancellation announcement, whatever the case may be. I'm guessing that it could happen any day now, as ABC has already started revealing renewals for a couple of their other shows that were waiting around.
Some of them, include: their big hit drama, "Designated Survivor" for season two and "Once Upon A Time" for season seven.
According to the Inquisitr, Chopra, did deliver a statement for season three's renewal status, telling India reporters that Quantico has always been on the bubble with ABC even since season one's successful year, and that they're still just waiting around for the slow network to finally make a decision to bring them back.
Alternate finale ending
They also revealed that showrunner, Josh Safran, shared that they decided to switch up the season two finale's ending, cutting the one that was going to feature a big cliffhanger that would set up for a new season three. He claims that it had nothing to do with ABC's sluggish decision-making, but rather the alternate ending was just better. Whatever the case, it's safe to say that you die-hard fans really need to cross your fingers, and hope and pray for this one. Stay tuned.
