Johnny Depp is definitely on e of those actors who have made a career out of their versatility. His filmography makes for a fascinating read and watching a rundown of all the eccentric characters he has taken on so far can be quite entertaining. Unfortunately for the great actor he has not had an especially great run over the past few years, even though he has stuck to what made him famous in the first place.

There is no doubt that Johnny Depp is a fine actor but his choice of roles can be questioned based on his recent track record. His next project will see him portray an eccentric businessman, but the role actually seems closer to a hit than a miss this time around.

Welcome to the jungle

“King Of The Jungle” will be based on an article that was featured on wired magazine about the life of John McAfee, creator of the McAfee antivirus software. The article was written by Joshua Davis and it details the fascinating events that followed McAfee’s departure from the business world.

After cashing in on his immense wealth, John McAfee decided to take a long hiatus from civilization and settle down in a jungle in Belize.

His time in the jungle almost mirrors Marlon Brando's character in “Apocalypse Now”, so you can imagine that it contained a lot of sex, ammunition, and general chaos and madness.

The plot line of the film is said to revolve around a Wired Magazine investigator who signs on to cover the story of McAfee’s life after business, but ends up stumbling onto a twisted and demented world created by a man clearly tackling his own inner demons.

What to expect

“King Of The Jungle” will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, and they will be using a script written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski. The production houses responsible for this feature will be Conde Nast Entertainment, Zaftig Films, MadRiver Pictures and Epic entertainment.

Some of the producers on-board for the feature include Dawn Ostroff, Charlie Gogolak, John Requa and Joshua Davis. The supporting cast has not yet been announced, but it is already expected that the film will rely heavily on the performance of Johnny Depp. The actor has a lot of films coming out this year, including the latest installment of “The Pirates Of The Caribbean”, franchise “Dead Men Tell No Tales”. This could be a sink or swim period for Johnny Depp’s career and all his fans will be wishing that he pulls through for the sake of the entertainment industry.
