The sequel to “Suicide Squad” could see Guy Ritchie directing the flick though his tight schedule will make this a bit difficult. The Director who is known for his slick direction of "Sherlock Holmes" has been roped in to direct the action flick “Aladin” produced by Disney. This could prevent him from being at the helm of affairs for the DC Comics movie.

However, what we know is that the sequel will be penned by Adam Cozad, who had also penned “The Legend of Tarzan.” However, the studio is in overdrive, and there is more than a dozen DC Comics movie which it has in the pipeline, and perhaps Ritchie could be directing "Suicide Squad 3" in the future.

There were also talks that Mel Gibson could be directing the sequel, but we know now that he is no longer in contention. There are rumors that Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer and "The Shallows" director Jaume Collet-Serra could be roped in for the job.

Killer Frost to feature in the flick and replace Harley Quinn

Another piece of information which trickling down is Killer Frost could feature in “Suicide Squad 2” and could replace Harley Quinn. It is still not clear if Harley will star in the flick with a watered down role or will be replaced completely by Frost. There are a lot of surprises and confusion especially the fact that Margot Robbie’s iconic character was the most striking in the first part and replacing her with another character is perplexing.

Warner Bros. confident of commercial viability of the sequence

The flick from DC Comics movie which was released last year was rated poorly by critics but managed to rake in real money at the Worldwide Box-Office.

The success of the flick at the box office convinced Warner Bros. to take a chance with not only a sequel but two more Suicide Squad related projects which include a Gotham City Sirens movie and a Deadshot spinoff.

“Suicide Squad” was dubbed underdeveloped and the script was lacking, and more work could have been done. However, it could not be dubbed a Dud, and it was one among the most profitable DCEU flicks to date.

It is also evident why Warner Bros. is so eager to take up the sequel project.

If indeed Guy Ritchie directs “Suicide Squad 2” it will be interesting and judging by his long working relationship with Warner Bros. it is entirely possible that he will direct the sequel. Guy has already directed four Warner Bros. flicks which includes two Sherlock Holmes flicks, and the upcoming “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.”
