Ever since former half-term Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin burst onto the national scene during the 2008 presidential election, her family name has been in and out of the headlines. For daughter Bristol Palin, she's often been the target of public trolling, much in response to her outspoken views on politics and constant defense of her mother.

Palin's new addition

Once it was clear that former President George W. Bush had tarnished the Republican Party due to the fallout of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the collapse of the economy, the GOP was in a tough fight to keep the White House in their control.

During the 2008 election, Republicans were well aware of the problems at hand, as GOP nominee Sen. John McCain rolled the dice and tapped Sarah Palin to serve as his running mate. Palin's inexperience and ignorance on a wide range of issues was quickly exposed, leading to a clear cut victory for Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Since then, Palin's name has been tied to the far-right of conservative politics, with her children often finding themselves in the spotlight. For Bristol Palin, she's often come under-fire for her personal life, which includes various relationships that have been rocky in nature. The biggest criticism surrounding the former "Dancing with the Stars" contestant involves the fact that while having multiple children, she was once a paid advocate for abstinence-only education, taking in over $200,000 a year in the process.

As reported by the Washington Examiner on May 9, the younger Palin has once again added to her family.

Along with husband Dakota Meyer by her side, 26-year-old Bristol Palin gave birth on Monday to her third child, Atlee Bay.

Bristol confirmed the news on her official Instagram page, while Sarah Palin doubled down on Facebook. Their on again, off again relationship has been well-documented, as the two just got back together last June following a heated custody battle over their other child, two-year-old Sailor, who was born back in 2015. Bristol had her first child, Tripp, in 2008 when she was just 18-years-old with ex-boyfriend Levi Johnston.

Twitter reacts

In response to the news that Bristol Palin had yet another child, social media users didn't hold back their thoughts. "Bristol Palin had her third baby, named Atlee. The Palins talk so much about the Bible but use some random syllable generator to name kids," one Twitter user wrote.

"I wonder what Breitbart/Fox/Infowars would do if Malia Obama just had her third kid by a third man like Bristol Palin just did?" a tweet wondered.

"Yes, the abstinence message is sooooooooo effective. Just ask Bristol Palin," another tweet went on to read. "Congrats to abstinence advocate Bristol Palin who finally managed to give birth NOT out of wedlock! Only took 3 tries to get it right!" another message sarcastically read.

"Bristol Palin sh*ts out more kids from different fathers than a village Mexican," an additional tweet noted. Despite her third child not being born out of wedlock, it appeared that many critics of the Palin family were not ready to let Bristol forget about her past.
