Blake K. immediately won hearts over on "The Bachelorette." He had a great background and a kind smile. As fans of the show watched on Monday night, some likely determined he was an early contender to win Rachel's heart. Those fans must have been shocked when the end of the episode came around and he went without a rose, eliminating him from the competition. Beyond the television screen, however, there might be a pretty good explanation for his defeat.
Blake K. may have left on his own terms
A screenshot from Blake K.'s Instagram account from over two months ago may have revealed a touching truth about his time on the show. The caption from the post reads: "Left my adventure in LA early and flew directly to Hawaii to visit my 90 year old grandfather who was in the ICU." One can safely assume best on the timeline of filming that the "adventure" he is referring to is the filming of "The Bachelorette."
Once the Instagram post became widely-circulated, Blake K. provided an update on Twitter, stating that his grandfather was doing well. If anything, his commitment to family at the risk of personal sacrifice would make him an even more appealing suitor.
But he likely bowed out of "The Bachelorette" to take care of his business; on reality television, he could always come back in a surprise appearance, but it seems unlikely.
Would he have won "The Bachelorette?"
Answering that question is like answering "Would the New York Mets have won the World Series?" after losing their first game of the season, only to watch their entire roster get hurt; the answer is, "too soon to tell." None of the contestants on "The Bachelorette" get to make a strong first impression in the first episode (unless they're trying too hard). The same goes for Blake K., and even Rachel.
Blake K. had some good things going for him, though. He used to be a United States Marine, so he has valuable life experience and a selfless persona.
His bio on the show's official website stated that he would choose to be future president Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for a day. He also loves his mom and has a great smile. Perhaps if he stayed on "The Bachelorette" longer, Rachel would get the chance to get to know a guy who seems wonderful by early indications. Life sometimes gets in the way of people's best intentions, though, and Rachel will instead have to choose between the guy who plays with puppets and the talk of the town, Whaboom. Good luck, Rachel.
