While Hugh Jackman is reportedly finished with Wolverine and producers have said that future X-Men movies will move on from the Magneto and Professor X storyline, that does not mean Fox is slowing down with their successful mutant property. Fox just revealed the release dates for their next three X-Men movies, including the follow-up to "X-Men: Apocalypse" and they all come out before the end of 2018.

'New Mutants'

The next two X-Men movies are both spin-offs, with a new franchise and a sequel to one of the most successful X-Men movies ever made. First up is "New Mutants," which has a release date of April 13, 2018. This movie is directed by Josh Boone. In Marvel Comics, the New Mutants are a group of teens who are brought into Professor X's school to learn how to be superheroes. Unlike the X-Men, who fight major villains every day, the New Mutants are just trainees but often end up fighting their own villains over time. They also eventually morph into a team known as X-Force, which is another upcoming Fox X-Men property that is coming.

That group is led by a mutant known as Cable, which ties into the next movie on the release date.

'Deadpool 2'

Cable won't be in the "New Mutants" movie as far as Fox as revealed, and James McAvoy will return as Professor X. However, Cable will make his debut in "Deadpool 2," which has a release date of June 1, 2018. Josh Brolin, who also appears as Thanos in the Avengers movies will star as Cable in the "Deadpool" sequel. Cable is the son of Cyclops and a clone of Jean Grey in the timeline of "X-Men: Apocalypse" who comes back in time to our world to stop the destruction of his world. "Deadpool 2" should be an interesting mix as Cable is straight-laced and Deadpool is as sarcastic as ever.

'X-Men: Dark Phoenix'

The final X-Men movie that Fox revealed the release date for is the next actual X-Men franchise movie with "X-Men: Dark Phoenix." While that title is not official yet, the release date for the movie is Nov. 2, 2018. Fans of the comics know this storyline as the one that was attempted in "X-Men: The Last Stand," the movie considered the worst in the entire franchise. In the story, Jean Grey earns the powers of the Phoenix, an eternal being that ends up corrupting her and turning her evil. As the Dark Phoenix, Jean is the most powerful villain in the universe and the X-Men have to stop her before she destroys the world. Rumor is that Simon Kinberg will write and direct the movie.
