After "Teen Wolf" star Dylan O'Brien was injured last year on the set of "The Maze Runner 3: The Death Cure," fans were concerned about the fate of their favorite actor. Friends and other cast and crew members released statements at the time of the accident saying that he was okay and that their thoughts were with him, but after he was missing from the public eye for several months, people wondered what would become of the movie and his other projects.
A scary stunt gone wrong
He was injured on set while trying to climb from one vehicle to another. The stunt went wrong and he reportedly suffered from a "concussion, facial fracture and lacerations," which were serious, but not life-threatening. Reports came throughout the year updating on his status and saying that his injuries were more serious than originally anticipated, and that he would need more time to recover.
Thankfully, last fall he was seen in Italy filming another movie: "American Assassin." In the movie based off of a novel of the same name, O'Brien plays CIA recruit Mitch Rapp. The role is different from his past movies and nothing like his role as the humorous best friend, Stiles Stilinski on MTV's "Teen Wolf," but fans are excited no matter what.
Although it's unclear whether or not Stiles will return for the final 10 episodes of "Teen Wolf," it's safe to say for anyone who was watching that he had a tumultuous season six until he was rescued. Fans were nervously waiting for the first half of the show last season to see whether or not Stiles would be able to come back to Beacon Hills or not. His disappearance on the show is likely because of O'Brien's injuries and the show's need to work around his recovery schedule, but the young actor was seen on set and appeared in the final episodes of the show.
Fans feeling conflicted
A video posted to YouTube drew controversy in late 2016 among O'Brien's fans. It showed him in the airport with his parents, Patrick and Lisa, as the person filming asks if he's back at work.
Dylan avoids talking to him for most of the video as his father tells the man to leave them alone, but it did show that Dylan was feeling better. Although fans didn't want to invade his privacy, it was exciting to see that he was feeling better after a long break from the public eye.
Fans are happy that Dylan has recovered safely and they're also excited that the news of his recovery means that "The Maze Runner 3: The Death Cure" is filming again. It resumed filming this year after a long break for Dylan to recover and work on his other projects, but the delay didn't put the fans off. O'Brien traveled to South Africa this year to film the final movie in the series.
