One of television's biggest breakout series in 2016 was NBC's drama, "This Is Us," which brought together a stellar cast in the form of Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia as Jack and Rebecca Pearson, the star-crossed lovers who became parents to biological twins and an adoptive African-American baby during the 1980s. The show catapulted to fame when the series premiere showcased a twist and revealed how the show was in fact telling the story of both Jack and Rebecca when they were 36 years old, and their three grown-up children, Kate (Chrissy Metz), Kevin (Justin Hartley), and Randall (Sterling K.

Brown), in the present day, also at 36 years of age.

'This is Us' at the present day

Towards the end of the second episode, the show delivered another ominous twist—present day Rebecca is now married to Jack's best friend, Miguel (Jon Huertas), but she was still wearing the moon necklace that Jack gave her, which she promised to never take off. This sparked speculation among fans that Jack had passed away, as the lovebirds seemed to have their marriage in tip top shape.

This, of course, was challenged by the next episodes of "This is Us," which showed Rebecca and Jack having arguments over the former's singing career and Rebecca's decision to go on tour as part of a band. The show also showed that Jack had already indeed passed in the present day, as his remains sat on a mantle in Kate's house.

'This is Us' and the mystery behind Jack's death

Since Jack's death has been confirmed on the show, fans have speculated that it could have been the 9/11 attacks, or a drunk driving accident that ended his life. However, the actors and producers have been doing a good job at not spoiling it for the viewers.

Moore recently spoke to Wall Street Journal to share that she already knows how her TV husband dies, but refused to say when viewers will find out about it.

The actress remarked, "I would just tell people to relax and enjoy the show 'cause it's probably not gonna be revealed anytime soon."

"Not that Dan [Fogelman] and the producers want to melodramatically drag it out," Moore explained. "Just for storytelling purposes, they wanna give it the proper pathos and time to be revealed and watch it unfold but I do know how it happens."

"It's as heartbreaking as you can imagine," Moore promised.

"This is Us" returns to NBC tonight, followed by its final episode next week. Whether or not viewers will finally find out the mystery behind Jack's death remains to be seen. In the meantime, check out the promo for tonight's episode below.
