george michael's cause of death has finally been revealed. His family can finally move ahead with the funeral plans now that his cause of death has been confirmed. The 53-year-old legendary singer and songwriter passed away in his home on Christmas Day in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire. Michael was known for his hit songs such as "Faith," "Last Christmas," "Careless Whisper," and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go."
George Michael passed away peacefully from natural causes
According to Darren Salter, senior coroner for Oxfordshire, the star was suffering from dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
That means his heart was enlarged, weakened, and inflamed, according to BBC News. The muscle in his heart wasn't pumping enough blood as it should have. Michael's liver was also abnormal as it contained an unhealthy level of fat.
Since this was a "natural cause of death," the coroner revealed that there was no need for an inquest. Thames Valley Police stated George Michael's death was unexplained but not suspicious and an initial post-mortem examination was found "inconclusive."
There are many possible causes for Michael's death. Some have suspected alcohol use or drug use. The singer's former partner, Kenny Goss, said over the weekend that he believes Michael's body gave up from all the stress he put it through.
Now Goss and Michael's family want to move ahead with the funeral arrangements.
The singer's boyfriend Fadi Fawaz, who found him dead at his home, took to Twitter shortly after the coroner's statement writing "the truth is out." Fawaz was slammed by Michael's fans after he said his Twitter was hacked before tweets posted suggested the singer wanted to take his own life.
The 999 call he made was also leaked.
Singer's services expected to be a celebration of his life
The funeral arrangements were previously delayed by several weeks until the post-mortem proved inconclusive. Sources close to the singer said the stress from having to delay the funeral has been "intolerable," including on his father.
Now George Michael's Family And Friends can look forward to having some closure.
While a date for the singer's funeral has yet to be set, it's already rumored he will have two services – a private one for family and friends as well as a memorial for his larger circle of friends and fans. It has also been rumored that Sir Elton John would perform at one of the services.
According to The Sun, Michael may be buried in his favorite suit and shirt from his final tour along with a gold Cartier watch and a ring engraved with his nickname Yog.
There will also be a tribute concert planned later this year with celebrity guests such as Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Kate Moss, and Wham! bandmate Andrew Ridgeley. George Michael's career and life will be celebrated by everyone.
