Looks like we'll know what to expect when "This Is Us" returns for its second season later this year. Since the first season left off with a major cliffhanger -- with Jack (played by Milo Ventimiglia) walking out on Rebecca (played by Mandy Moore) after they got into a big fight after her first gig -- fans are wondering what will happen next when the show returns later this year.

Will fans of 'This is Us' find out how Jack died?

According to reports, Chris Sullivan, who plays Toby on the show, joked that Jack wasn't really dead, but rather, he was hiding out in Cuba.

Jokes also abounded from the rest of the cast in the E! interview that went public today, including theories about a surprise pregnancy, involvement with Russian spies, and a resurrection of Jack from the dead as a zombie. But jokes aside, Milo Ventimiglia told the outlet that fans should have expected that there would be a twist ending in the season finale.

"It's one of those things where sure, it might have been leading in that direction, but at the same time, if you know anything about this show, you can't expect anything," Ventimiglia said. "Anything that you believe is going to happen may not happen, but you have to understand that what we're telling, the stories we're telling are still going to hit home, and you're going to discover more about this family that you fell in love with."

What fans can expect for Season 2

"This is Us" creator Dan Fogelman also confirmed that there would be 18 episodes next season, and though its been confirmed that the show would come back on later this year, a premiere date hasn't been set yet.

He also revealed that the show's first season was coming to Britain's Channel 4 in the summertime, and that the next season will focus on how Jack ultimately died, and the Pearson family fractured.

In addition to Ventimiglia and Moore, "This is Us" stars Emmy winner Sterling K. Brown as Randall, Chrissy Metz as Kate, Justin Hartley as Kevin, and Susan Kelechi Watson as Beth, Randall's wife. Broadway star Ron Cephas Jones played Randall's biological father, William, who died this season.
