As previously reported, the Rotten Tomatoes news team, caught up to the "This Is Us" crew while they were out at PaleyFest this past Saturday afternoon, March 18th,2017, and in this segment, we'll go over what stars: Sterling K. Brown aka Randall and Susan Kelechi Watson aka Beth, had to say for the upcoming season 2 . It turns out that we'll see their characters really contemplate ,hard, about having a child. We're also going to get more glimpses of Beth's background.
On his heart
In this segment, Sterling only talked about the big conversation that's starting up between Randall and Beth in reference to him wanting a child.
He said that it's something that's been on his heart when he thinks about the loss of William and being raised by Jack and Rebecca. He thinks it's a real gift to be raised by a Pearson, and he's going to want to see that reality play out for a possible, future child of theirs. However, right now, he reiterated that they're just talking about it at the moment. They also pointed out that ,coincidentally, Sterling experienced this same issue with his wife in real life, so he totally relates to this storyline.
She's very concerned
Next, they talked with Susan, who had a lot more spoilery intel to deliver up about her character, Beth. First, she commented on the baby talk. She told them that Beth was actually ready to just get back to a normal life, and that the child discussion is going to be a very big one in season 2.
She's going to be very concerned about how much their life would change if they tried to raise a child, because she knows that it's going to entail a lot of responsibility.
Getting more in depth
After that, Susan revealed that we're going to learn more about Beth's side of the family in the new season. She pointed out that she has a large family of about 14 people, and that they're Jamaican.
Then she said that we'll see more in depth information about her family, seeing more background stories about them and what not. However, she couldn't get more specific than that as she revealed that she hasn't seen any of the new season 2 storylines yet.
Alright, so that's all they had for the Beth and Randall stuff. Hopefully, we'll get some more intel on these two in the coming months.
There's a ton of more press interviews that they've done, but I suspect that they're echoing the same things at the moment, since they don't have any season 2 scripts yet. Season 2 is set to start up this Fall 2017. Stay tuned.
