Malayalam megastar Mammootty's new movie "The Great Father" was released in the US on March 30, 2017. The film is expected to create a benchmark in the history of Malayalam cinema. In Kerala alone, the film has been released in more than 380 centers, and most of the shows emerged houseful. This Haneef Adeni directorial will surely break the opening day collection record set by Mohanlal's "Pulimurugan" in the US too.

Produced by Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shaji Nadesan under the August Cinemas banner, the film has been made with a huge budget. The makers made some clever marketing moves to elevate the overall hype surrounding the movie, and it includes the recently leaked video which featured the actor shedding tears with a broken heart.

"The Great Father" also stars Sneha, Baby Anikha, Arya and Shaam in other prominent roles.

Arya's powerful negative role: A real threat to David Nainan

Arya, the young Tamil Hunk is reportedly playing the character of a baddie police officer. During a recent talk with the press, Arya has revealed that Haneef well shot the climax action sequence which features him along with Mammootty. The actor also added that Mammootty had not availed the service of duplicates during many risky stunt shots.

Crazy public response

Will 'The Great Father' set a new opening day collection record?

Mammootty, one of the most talented actors in the Indian film fraternity has been going through the toughest patches of his career for the past three years, as he continuously failed to deliver hits and blockbusters like his box-office competitor Mohanlal.

The success of "The Great Father" is a do or die game for the actor, and if the film bombs at the box-office, then it may negatively impact the career of this acting legend.

Interestingly, most of the reviews coming out of the movie are positive in nature. Considering the number of centers it has been released, even an 80% status in playhouses may fetch a revenue of close to $1 million from India alone on the opening day ($2 million expected by the end of the opening weekend).

In the United States, the film may collect a revenue of nearly 1 Crores in its opening weekend.
