Laura Wright is one of the leading ladies on "General Hospital." Her storylines center around her on-again-off-again relationship with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and the other men in her life. She is a mother of three who recently lost her middle child, Morgan (Bryan Craig) to a car bomb. Her acting is on point and that is why she is nominated for her fourth Daytime Emmy.
Back in 2011, Laura Wright won the Daytime Emmy for her role as Carly Corinthos on "General Hospital." This year though, it is super special. Her storyline with Morgan's death was one of the most gut-wrenching things that could have happened to her and her relationship.
As she fell apart with grief, so did fans watching with her. Wright is the fourth actress to play Carly on the soap and one of the most liked in the role. At this point, there is no other woman out there who could fill Laura Wright's shoes in this role.
Laura talks Emmy snubs
According to Soap Opera Digest, Laura Wright was shocked that two of her co-stars were not nominated. Maurice Benard didn't get a nomination for his role as Sonny Corinthos. This is shocking news for fans as well. Benard always brings his A-game to his leading role. Also, Wright was disappointed to see Michelle Stafford was snubbed for her role as Nina Clay Cassadine. There have been some incredible moments from her as well.
Stafford worked hard and this was another shock for fans who watch "General Hospital."
Up against Laura Wright in the lead actress category is Nancy Lee Grahn for her portrayal of Alexis Davis Jerome. This was a good year for her as well, which definitely puts the race between these two a tight one. With "Julexis" falling apart and Julian's (William deVry) betrayals, Alexis and her alcoholism were front and center for a while.
"General Hospital" fans are rooting for both leading ladies.
Daytime Emmy details
Right now, there is no information on whether or not the event will be televised. In the past it has been run on the POP channel and streamed online but last year, it was not shown at all. The event will take place on April 30, 2017.
Fans wish the best for Laura Wright as she enjoys the next few weeks of events including a big luncheon and attends her big night with her lead actress nomination.
