Nick Cannon abruptly quit NBC's "America's Got Talent" last week even though officials still want him to change his mind. However, Nick insists that he will not return for the new season. According to officials, the future of “Caught on Camera With Nick Cannon” is still up in the air even though it was renewed for a third season. The title bears Cannon's name. Therefore, if Cannon quits and the show continues, the name will have to be changed.
'America's Got Talent'
The 36-year-old comedian and actor is under contract for the upcoming season of “America's Got Talent.” NBC executives have not accepted Cannon's resignation because they want him to return. After all, he is still under contract, but the network doesn't plan to sue even if he breaches his contract as he has threatened to do. The network would rather that he returns to the show that he loves and to the show that loves him. He has been hosting "AGT" since 2009.
Cannon says NBC threatened to fire him because he talked about the network during his recent Showtime stand-up comedy special, “Stand Up, Don’t Shoot.” So he quit before allowing NBC to fire him. On February 16, 2017, Cannon stated that he planned to stand his ground and will not return.
He didn't quit in a face-to-face encounter. Instead, the comedian wrote a lengthy post on Facebook. He criticized the network and threatened never to go back no matter how much money they pay him. It has been reported that the network can't get in touch with him to even discuss the situation.
Fans want Nick to return
Fans of "America's Got Talent" want Cannon to return because they liked his dynamics with the contestants.
He related to them to keep them calm as they waited to go on stage. He got excited with them after they nailed their performances. Sometimes Nick would go on stage and become part of the performance. Nick realizes he is letting his fans down, so he apologized to them in his Facebook post.
