Kristen Stewart, who shot to fame in 2008 while starring as Bella Swan in "The Twilight Saga" film series, will be hosting an all-new episode of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. This will be Stewart's first time hosting.
Directorial debut
26-year-old Stewart recently made her directorial debut in a new short film titled "Come Swim." The film premiered last month at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. The 17-minute film, written and directed by Stewart, is a diptych of one man's day, half impressionist, and half realist portraits. Stewart came up with the idea from a painting that she created years ago that's now hanging in her garage.
Stewart is no stranger to the Sundance Film Festival. Over the years, she has appeared in a number of movies that premiered at the festival. The actress is likely looking forward to adding writer and director to her already impressive resume.
Music from Alessia Cara
On February 4, the musical guest on "SNL" will be Alessia Cara. The 20-year-old Canadian singer and songwriter is also a first time guest on the late night show. "Scars to Your Beautiful" is her current single and its been dominating the charts. The song is off of her debut studio album "Know-It-All," which was released back in November of 2015. Cara spent much of last year touring North America in support of her album.
The last new episode of "Saturday Night Live" aired a couple weeks ago on January 21 and was hosted by comedian Aziz Ansari with music from Big Sean.
The episode ended up being quite controversial, as Ansari used the monologue to talk about his distaste toward President Donald Trump. During the show, Big Sean performed two songs, "Bounce Back" and "Sunday Morning Jetpack," both off of his upcoming LP "I Decided."
Speaking of President Trump, for the February 11th episode, Trump impersonator Alec Baldwin will host, marking the 17th time that Baldwin has hosted "SNL," which is a record for the show. The musical guest for February 11th will be singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran.
