All eyes are on Mama June Shannon as she debuts amazing weight loss. Her new reality television show "From Not to Hot" chronicles makeover after bariatric surgery and plastic surgery. The only one not impressed is daughter Honey Boo Boo. In fact, Alana Thompson behaved very oddly toward mom's "transformation." The child celebrity made bizarre comments and seemed to be more concerned about food than the impending surgery. What's up with HBB's strangely jealous attitude?
Alana blows off Mama June's surgery
Mama June is shown on WE tv "From Not to Hot" about to undergo a very dangerous surgical procedure, Alana glibly predicts that her mom could "bleed out" (the child star clearly watches a lot of TV to know that term).
As mom faces gastric bypass surgery or skin removal (akin to tummy tuck), daughter Honey Boo Boo can only think about her stomach as opposed to mom's shrinking one. The junk food-obsessed 11-year-old complains that she's hungry, while her pre-op mother and older sister Pumpkin gape at Alana's callousness.
Is Alana jealous of Mama June's attention?
The reality television kid is used to being the center of attention, first on "Toddlers & Tiaras" and then on "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo." But "From Not to Hot" is about Mama June Shannon, not her precocious pageant star. Does HBB resent that? The reason for her attitude could also stem from body image issues. The increasingly obese child always played up her beauty queen past.
Alana may be uncomfortable that morbid obesity is stalking her like it has her celebrity mom. "The Doctors" warned her last year to lose weight or die young. They could see Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and other adult diseases written in her future.

Mama June isn't the only one undergoing a makeover.
Her daughter is moving into adolesence which is messy enough. The loss of the TLC show and her weight gain won't help, nor will a mom who is suddenly sexy after a breast implant procedure and plastic surgery makeover. Plus, reality TV child stars seem to age like other child celebrities -- not well. The adorable "Toddlers & Tiaras" star is now an obese tween. Maybe Alana's faking it because Mama June's "surgery" was staged for "From Not to Hot" and was actually done months ago.
