Katie Couric is back on the "Today" show for one week only. The former co-anchor is back again with Matt Lauer while Savannah Guthrie is on maternity leave with her second child, son Charley, who was born last month. Couric said on Monday that she feels as if she never left. However, she did exit the popular NBC morning talk show in 2006.
Katie Couric and Matt Lauer
It has been exactly 10 years since Katie Couric worked on the "Today" show. Of course, they couldn't resist bringing back memories of those years. After all, Couric sat alongside Lauer from 1991 to 2006.
As expected, the two took their audience down memory lane. Lauer showed flashbacks when the two were together before.
The "Today" staff and audience were happy to see Couric back with Lauer again. Viewers posted comments on social media about how happy they were to see the pair reporting the news and joking with each other again.

Where Katie Couric has been for 10 years
Viewers of the "Today" show know where Matt Lauer has been for 10 years, but where has Katie Couric been? The former co-anchor, who will turn 60-years-old on Saturday, January 7, has not been idle during her absence from the morning talk show.
Couric left in 2006 to anchor "CBS Evening News." In fact, the television host has been on all three of the major television networks. She actually worked at NBC News from 1989 to 2006. Then, she worked for CBS News from 2006 to 2011. She worked for ABC News from 2011 to 2014. In addition to her television news assignments, she hosted her own syndicated daytime talk show, "Katie" from 2012 to 2014.
She currently serves as Yahoo! Global News Anchor. Couric returned to the "Today" show as a married woman. She married financier John Molner after a two-year relationship in 2014.
Next week's guest
By the time viewers get used to having Katie Couric back with Matt Lauer, another former co-anchor will be a guest for a week. Meredith Vieira followed Couric in 2006 and worked with Lauer until 2011. Vieira will return next week to replace Guthrie as she did during Guthrie's first maternity leave in 2015 when Guthrie gave birth to her first child, Vale.
