According to Us Weekly, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton was allegedly asked to be a contestant on the popular ABC dance competition show, "Dancing with the Stars" for Season 24 that begins on March 20. It might not surprise anyone that the 69-year-old who has dedicated her life to politics turned down the offer with the explanation that the mirrorball trophy is no consolation prize.
The former first lady Michelle Obama did appear on "So You Think You Can Dance." However, she is not expected to compete on "DWTS." Singer Ashlee Simpson didn't accept the show's invitation either.
Who accepted the invitation?
Producers are never disappointed when people don't accept their invitations because there are plenty of people who do agree to hit the ballroom dance floor. Some people beg to be on the reality show. The entire list of contestants will be revealed on "Good Morning America" on March 1. In the meantime, there are some names that are definitely at the top of the list.
The bachelor star Nick Viall is almost guaranteed to be a contestant. "The Bachelor" will be over by the time "DWTS" airs, and Nick wants to continue being in front of millions.
Every year producers try to put together a cast that is more spectacular than the previous season. They are hoping to have surprises for fans in the upcoming season.
Champions returning
More information about the cast of "Dancing With The Stars" will be in the new issue of Us Weekly this week. Fans learned earlier that new parents Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy will return to the ballroom. Maks was partnered with Amber Rose last season, but Peta was waiting the arrival of their son, Shai Aleksander, who was born on January 4.
Returning also is newly married man, Mark Ballas, who was off last season because of his Broadway performances in "Jersey Boys." While Mark is returning, his friend, Derek Hough will be missed because of his other assignments.
Reigning champion Val Chmerkovskiy is expected to return. He won last season with 16-year-old gold medalist gymnast Laurie Hernandez. Her 19-year-old friend and fellow gold medalist gymnast, Simone Biles, expressed an interest in the competition show. Wouldn't it be amazing if Simone appeared and was partnered with Val?
