Ever since breaking onto the scene in WWE last January, AJ Styles has torn his way through the ranks and to the top in no time. He debuted last year at the "Royal Rumble" and a year later, he is defending the WWE Championship against John Cena at the same event. Well, not everything is going perfect for him, as the champ was recently robbed at a live event.
Yes, while he is preparing for his big match at the "Royal Rumble," Styles is still taking on opponents and appearing at numerous events. Obviously, he would have thought that his personal belongings were safe, but there is always the chance that something bad will happen -- and it did.
AJ Styles had a lot stolen from him
The robbery happened last Monday at a WWE Live Event in Arkansas. The roster of "SmackDown Live" was doing a non-televised event at the Convocation Center and Styles did work a match for the crowd. After all was said and done, he went backstage and learned that he had been robbed.
After the event, AJ Styles informed the Arkansas State University police that a black bag had been stolen from him. The robbery took place while he was out in the ring working his match, and no one was in his locker room. The items include:
- Apple iPhone
- Beats headphones
- $1,000 in cash (American)
- $7,000 in yen (Japanese)
- XBox 360
- XBox 360 video games - six of them
- Small screen TV
The 'Royal Rumble' will have AJ Styles on a big stage
It is quite possible that AJ Styles could go on to "WrestleMania 33" in April and have the WWE Championship still around his waist.
If that is the case, he may very well be in the main event of the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) of each year, and in less than two years with the company. No matter what, no one can deny that he has already made a name for himself in Vince McMahon's promotion.
Even if Styles doesn't main event "WrestleMania 33" in Orlando, he is going to be on a big stage at the "Royal Rumble" in a week.
He will be defending his title against John Cena, the longtime face of the company. AJ Styles didn't just begin his wrestling career, but it is hard to look back and find anyone else who shot up the ladder so quickly in WWE.
