Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were expecting the arrival of their baby boy on January 2. He did not arrive until January 4, and the two professional dancers are as happy as they can be. Therefore, congratulations are in order for the proud parents.
Baby's birth and name
Peta and Maks' son was born on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at 5:34 a.m. His name is Shai Aleksander Chmerkovskiy. Maks announced the birth on Twitter soon after his son's arrival because he knew fans were waiting to hear the good news. The couple concluded that this is the best thing that has ever happened to them.
Maks' younger brother, Valentin Chmerkovskiy, was so excited that he posted on Instagram on Tuesday that he was expecting to be an uncle very soon. Val also canceled being with the "Dancing With The Stars" troupe in Richmond, Virginia. He apologized to fans and promised to make it up to Richmonders who were looking forward to seeing him with the other dancers.

Peta and Maks' upcoming wedding
Peta, 30, and Maks, 36, chose to wait until after the birth of their son before they got married because they want him to be in the celebration. They plan to get married in July when Shai is about six months old. They deliberately chose July because the date does not conflict with the time "Dancing with the Stars" is on the air.
The couple wants their friends from the show to attend their New York wedding.
Maks has been on the ABC popular dance competition show since Season 2 in 2006. The one-time champion participated in 15 seasons and has been a guest judge twice when he took the seasons off from dancing. Peta is a two-time champion and has been a pro on the show for nine seasons, and like Maks, she doesn't plan to participate next season.
Both of them will be on diaper duty. As far as anyone knows, Val is expected to return in March for the next season of "Dancing with the Stars."
Other boys born to celebrities
It is interesting that celebrities have given birth to boys recently. Janet Jackson and Wissam Al Mana gave birth to Eissa on Tuesday, January 3, 2017.
NBC's "Today" show anchor Savannah Guthrie and husband, Mike Feldman, welcomed their son, Charley Max Feldman, on December 8, 2016 and her co-worker, meteorologist Dylan Dreyer and husband, Brian Fichera, welcomed a son, Calvin Bradley Fichera on December 17, 2016.
