Donald Trump has spent one week as president and he's already brought controversy into the White House. Trump signed an executive order banning Muslim refugees from select Middle East countries from entering the United States, which resulted in instant backlash.

Trump backlash

One of the major talking points used by Donald Trump while campaigning for president was his hard-line stance on the rise of Islamic terrorism.

Supporters of the billionaire real estate mogul were energized by Trump's rhetoric, which only widened the political divide between the American people. Heading into the weekend, Trump signed the aforementioned executive order, restricting refugees from seven Muslim countries from legally entering the United States, while banning Syrian refugees indefinitely. As seen across Twitter on January 28, top celebrities have decided to speak out.

"Along with liar,racist,misogynist,fool,infantile,sick,narcissist-with the Muslim ban we can now add heartless & evil to DT's repertoire," actor and director Rob Reiner wrote on his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon.

"The 9/11 attackers were from Saudi Arabia, Egypt & UAE--not the 7 nations in the immigration ban," actor George Takei tweeted, before adding, "These all do have Trump properties though."

Actress Rosie O'Donnell has continued to send out several tweets about Donald Trump, with one simply reading, "HE IS A SICK BASTARD." Actress Patricia Arquette also took a shot at the new president, using an image of the Statue of Liberty to make her point. "We might need to think about returning this beauty to France Now," Arquette wrote.

"That the President of the United States would order on Holocaust Memorial Day the banning of a people due to their religion is reprehensible," filmmaker Michael Moore wrote on his Twitter feed.

In a follow-up tweet, Moore added, "To our Muslim neighbors in the world: I & tens of millions of others are so very sorry. The majority of Americans did not vote 4 this man."

Ramifications

Less than 24 hours after Donald Trump signed the executive order in question, two Iraqis were detained at the Kennedy International Airport in New York City, with one being a former government contractor for the United States. In response, the Iranian Foreign Ministry officially announced that American citizens will be banned from entering into Iran due to Trump's actions.
