Marcus Mariota needs to come back for the Titans as soon as possible because this team is going to be dead in the water without him. They have already been leapfrogged by the Texans and the Jags because of injuries, and they are going to keep getting worse if they are not able to do something. They do not have Billy Vogel as their backup, and that is why they need to hurry up and get Mariota back. Can the Titans actually fall into third place in their division by the end of the year?
Mariota is their only hope
The Titans set up their whole team to revolve around this one guy, and they are falling apart because he is not playing very well.
That is just one part of the problem because he is now injured. It is clear that the Titans are going to have major problems until they get Mariota back, and it is hard to see how they could improve if he is not playing. The Jags found something with Leonard Fournette, and the Texans have Deshaun Watson. That could leave the Titans in third place when they thought that they had it figured out. I admit that I thought they had it figured out, but they are far from finished with this roster.
The Jags are better on defense
The Jags are so much better on defense that it does not matter at all if the Titans are good on their offensive line. It is clear at this points that the Titans could lose badly to the Jags because they would not be able to score even if they had Marcus Mariota back completely healthy.
The Jaguars have finally built a stout team that can be used to score and hold the ball, and the Texans have done the opposite with their new quarterback.
The Texans
The Texans have Deshaun Watson, and the quarterback has been their saving grace all year. He has been fantastic since he was brought in in the second half of their first game, and I have even made the argument that he could be the MVP of the league.
There are a lot of people who are going to be able to bet on the Texans because they know that Watson can pull them through. The Texans need Watson to be perfect, and that is what they have gotten. The Titans need Mariota to be perfect, and he has not been at all.
Is there a way to fix the Titans?
The Titans cannot be fixed in the middle of this season.
They have been dropped into one of the hardest divisions in the league, and that is something that they have to deal with for many years to come. The team has to figure out how to compete in this division instead of just trying to do their own thing because they have been surpassed.
