Just weeks after Republican Rep. Devin Nunes released a controversial memo about the FBI and their investigation into Russian election interference, Democrats finally revealed their rebuttal. In response, Donald Trump was not happy about it.

Trump on memo response

For over a year, an investigation has been taking place that has looked into the reported hacking of the Democratic National Committee by Russia during the 2016 election.

In addition, the investigation, which is now led by special counsel and former FBI Director Robert Mueller, has also looked into what roll Donald Trump's campaign might have had with Russia during the time of the hacking. In an apparent attempt to defend the president, Devin Nunes released a four-page memo accusing the FBI of bias against Trump, though many have pushed back to label Nunes' findings as cherry-picked and politically partisan.

On Saturday, the Democrats finally released their long-awaited response, though it was heavily redacted, which doubled down on the allegations that the Nunes memo was political and partisan.

After the response memo was released, Donald Trump gave his thoughts during a pair of tweets on February 24. "The Democrat memo response on government surveillance abuses is a total political and legal BUST," Trump tweeted, while adding, "Just confirms all of the terrible things that were done. SO ILLEGAL!" In a follow-up tweet, Trump continued his attack on the Democrats. "Dem Memo: FBI did not disclose who the clients were - the Clinton Campaign and the DNC. Wow!" he wrote.

Instant reaction

Within just minutes of Donald Trump tweeting out his response, critics of the administration were quick to fire back. "It does none of that. You are a stupid man. I guarantee YOU...you didn't read the 10 pgs," a tweet read.

"You're such a liar," Bishop Talbert Swan wrote, while adding, "How about a little transparency instead of making excuses for not releasing it?. You are absolutely pathetic Trump, your days of freedom are numbered!" "You are a total bust. The memo proves that you and Nunes are frauds," a follow-up tweet went on to read.

"A half a dozen tweets today, not one mention of the Gates plea, or what you think Manafort will do. How come?" yet another tweet went on to ask. "I feel so bombarded by all the smoke and mirrors you juggle," a social media user added. The negative reaction continued to pour in as the backlash to the president and his entire administration showed no signs of slowing down, with many waiting on whether or not Robert Mueller will find the smoking gun to take additional action against the White House.
