Sarah Sanders humiliated on Twitter after lashing out at Michael Wolff's book

With the release of "Fire And Fury: Inside the Trump White House" on Friday, the administration is doing everything in their power to discredit author Michael Wolff. After Sarah Huckabee Sanders accused Wolff of just "making up" stories to sell books, social media critics were quick to chime in.

As Donald Trump completes his first year in office, it's almost as if everyone has their own opinion on the current administration.

In the age of social media, tweets and posts are fired off on a minute by minute basis, with the president usually dominating the list of trending topic. While Twitter and other social media outlets provide the American people instant access to venting over issues, reporters and authors are sticking with the traditional format of investigative journalism to report on the White House. This was provided in the form of Michael Wolff's new book which pulls back the curtain on the president through interviews with current and past advisers and members of the team, including controversial statements made by former Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

Trump quickly dismissed the book as nothing but "lies," and his messaged continued during a December 5 interview on Fox News with Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

Joining the hosts on "Fox and Friends" on Friday morning was White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders who did her best to stick with the talking points of the president. "This is a guy who made up a lot of stories to try to sell books," Sanders said of Michael Wolff.

"I think more and more people are starting to see that his facts just simply don't add up," Sarah Huckabee Sanders went on to say. Sanders then confirmed that Donald Trump spoke briefly with Michael Wolff, but claimed it had nothing to do with an interview for the book.

"He never interviewed the president about the book. He repeatedly begged to speak to the president and was denied access" she continued.

Twitter backlash

After Sarah Huckabee Sanders' interview on Fox News, it didn't take long before those who oppose the administration to hit back. "You mean like you make up a lot of alternative facts to try to keep your job, and protect your boss, Sarah?" one tweet wondered.

"Does #SloppySarah blink every time she lies? Everyone has a tell," another tweet sarcastically asked. "Reporters are confirming much of what Michael Wolff reported. And Janice Min who attended the dinner with Roger Ailes and Bannon confirmed what Wolff had written that night. I certainly believe these people over Sanders," one Twitter user pointed out.

"How many former staff members and people have to come speak out against your president before all the conservative sheep finally believe it?" a follow-up tweet asked. "If I have to choose who is a liar and who is not...so far POTUS wins that dubious honor hands down!" an additional tweet read.
