"Days of our Lives" spoilers and rumors were running wild this week when actress Rachel Melvin posted an Instagram photo of herself that had fans hoping she was hinting at returning to Salem as Chelsea Brady. As many "DOOL" fans may remember, Chelsea is the daughter of Bo Brady and Billie Reed and hasn't been seen in Salem for years. However, since the NBC soap is bringing so many former characters back, viewers were hoping that Chelsea may be next on the list.
Rachel Melvin excites fans with social media post
The "Days of our Lives" chatter about Chelsea Brady's return all started when Rachel Melvin posted a photo of herself in the bathtub, to Instagram. Melvin captioned the photo, "Feeling a big 'soapy'" and then used the hashtag #DaysOfOurLives in the post. OF course, "DOOL" fans went wild believing that the actress was hinting at her return to the soap. However, Rachel soon reappeared on social media to set the record straight about a possible return. Melvin revealed that she was not returning to Salem "yet," and that she was sorry to get her fans' hopes up.
She claimed the photo caption was just a "fun play on words."
Chelsea Brady's dramatic time in Salem
Rachel Melvin was last seen on "Days Of Our Lives" as Chelsea Brady in 2009. Chelsea left the show to live in London with her fiance, Max Brady (Darin Brooks) and hasn't been seen since. During her time in Salem, she was a bit of a bad girl and caused quite a lot of drama. Chelsea's biggest storylines included finding out that she was the long-lost daughter of Bo and Billie, who had believed her to be dead since birth, and the heartbreaking plot of her running down her younger brother, Zac with her car and killing him. Chelsea had hit Zac on a dark road late at night. She didn't realize what she had done and left the scene.
Zac, the son of Bo and Hope Brady, later died from his injuries.
The storyline is considered to be one of the saddest in "DOOL" history and brought major drama to the show when Bo tried to cover up the fact that his daughter had killed his youngest son. When Hope finally found out, her marriage to Bo was in jeopardy, and Chelsea's freedom hung in the balance. Zac is still mentioned on the soap to this day, and after Bo's death, Hope had a vision of both her late husband and her dead son.
Other characters are returning
Meanwhile, if Chelsea Brady isn't scheduled to return to "Days of our Lives," plenty of characters are making a return. Eileen Davidson will return as Susan Banks, Louise Sorel will head back to Salem as the devious Vivianne Alamain, Matthew Ashford is scheduled to make a few appearances as the late Jack Deveraux, and Chandler Massey is reprising his role as Will Horton in one of the year's biggest storylines for the show.
