Middleton and Prince William have been planning to grow their family of four to five. On Monday, Middleton's third pregnancy was confirmed.
"Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child," the Kensington Palace announced in a statement to People. "The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news."
The palace also announced that the royal mom of two has canceled her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children's Center in London on the same day.
At the time, Middleton is being cared for at Kensington Palace.
The publication noted that Middleton is less than three months pregnant. The palace just made the announcement early because of her fragile condition.
Whenever the Duchess of Cambridge has a bun in the oven she usually suffers from acute morning sickness also known as Hyperemesis Gravidarum. That was the case on her first and second pregnancy with Prince George and Princess Charlotte, respectively. The same condition plagued her today.
Prince Harry told the reporters that he has not seen his sister-in-law for a while, but he believes that she is okay. Harry just returned from his African tour with girlfriend, Meghan Markle.
Middleton and Prince William's third child could be historic.
If the baby is a boy, he will not displace Princess Charlotte in the line of succession due to a measure passed in 2011. Before this change, a younger son would take over his older sister in inheriting the throne.
