Hillary Clinton on Tuesday criticized President Donald Trump’s speech at a United Nations event, the Washington Times reported. The former Secretary of State made an appearance on “The Late Show” where she shared her insights about the president’s rhetoric.

She told “The Late Show” host Stephen Colbert that the speech “was very dark and dangerous.” She added that the speech is not the message that the world should hear from the president.

The United Nations event was a historic moment for Trump since it was his first Presidential address to UN’s General Assembly.

It was attended by various world leaders such as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

President Trump’s speech tackled the “America First” policy and international relations with certain countries. He also said that he plans to act on North Korea with regards to their nuclear weapons.

Trump's speech

The former Secretary of State instantly became President Donald Trump’s strongest critic as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly. She said, “You should lead with the commitment of trying to avoid conflict however you can.”

Clinton added that the speech was “dangerous” for the United States and its allies. She also said that the president should always work to “avoid conflict” as much as he can.

Trump also lambasted the Iran nuclear deal saying that it was among the “most one-sided” deals that the country has been into.

Clinton’s new book

Hillary Clinton’s appearance on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert came after she released her new book titled “What Happened.” The book tells about her experiences from the 2016 presidential election, resulting in her loss to the incumbent president.

It also discussed the former Secretary of State’s personal insights on why she lost the elections, mentioning certain people such as FBI Director James Comey. Trump has criticized Clinton for blaming certain groups for her loss, Time reported.

He said the so-called “deplorables” returned “to haunt Hillary,” adding that the former Secretary of State invested huge amounts of money for a book that “had no game.” Clinton also responded to his criticisms.

She suggested that Trump should look into one of her previously published books, “It Takes A Village," which tells about uniting together to address certain problems. She tweeted that she is happy to send a copy of this book if he did not like her new memoir.
