Donald Trump spent his first birthday in the White House dealing with a tragic event and bad news for his administration. Following the shooting of Rep. Steve Scalise earlier in the day, Ivanka Trump tweeted about the president's birthday dinner, which resulted in social media firing back following the reports that the commander in chief is now under investigation.
Trump's b-day bash
Over the last two years, Donald Trump has turned the political landscape in the United States on its head. On the day the former host of "The Apprentice" announced his campaign for president, he quickly came under fire for controversial remarks about illegal immigrants from Mexico being "rapists" and "murderers." In the months, and now years, that followed, Trump and the media would often clash, with the president going as far as referring to any reports he doesn't like as "fake news." With Trump now in the White House, his controversy has often reflected negatively on his administration, especially as the Russian scandal has heated up.
The biggest turning point came just last month when Trump fired James Comey as head of the FBI, who then testified in Congress last week in regards to the Russian investigation. As reported by The Washington Post on June 14, current special counsel to the Russian investigation, Robert Mueller, has been investigating the president for possible Obstruction Of Justice, which was put on display in reaction to a birthday tweet sent out by Ivanka Trump.

Taking to her Twitter account on Wednesday night, Ivanka Trump sent out a birthday greeting to her father.
"Great being with family tonight for a lovely birthday dinner hosted by @flotus for @realdonaldtrump." Not long after Ivanka addressed Donald Trump's birthday on social media, the negative reaction quickly poured in, mostly focused on the reported investigation into the president over alleged obstruction of justice.

Twitter reacts
As expected, social media critics of the president were quick to troll Ivanka Trump's Twitter account after wishing her dad a happy birthday. "May his next birthday dinner be in Leavenworth," one tweet read.

Way better than Comey day on my birthday.
Officially being the subject of a federal investigation is the best birthday gift ever.

For us.
"So how is Jared? I've been meaning to ask...since he's been busted colluding with Russia and all," one Twitter user asked, before adding, "Oh! And give your dad my best! He must be distraught after hearing he's under criminal investigation by the FBI." "Officially being the subject of a federal investigation is the best birthday gift ever...For us," an additional tweet noted.
Isn't that lovely. As the law exposes the years of corruption within your family, your lovely days will be ending. Despicable the lot of u.

"Sounds like such a fun party. Celebrating the obstruction investigation and all. Way better than Comey day on my birthday," another Twitter user wrote. As the backlash continued, it proved that even on a birthday, partisan politics doesn't let up.
