In recent weeks, Donald Trump has been facing increased pressure dealing with a variety of issues, mostly stemming from the growing Russian scandal. After sending out an odd tweet after midnight, social media users quickly raised questions.

Trump's midnight madness

Since the start of his presidency back in January, Donald Trump has been dealing with non-stop criticism, controversy, and scandal. Over the last month, the former host of "The Apprentice" has been backed into a corner over the Russian investigation and multiple reports that don't reflect positively on his administration.

Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that Trump shared classified information with two high-ranking Russian officials, with the most recent bombshell revealing that his son-in-law Jared Kushner was under FBI scrutiny in relation to the investigation into the Kremlin, while being accused of trying to set up a back channel communication with the country. After spending a week on his first foreign trip, which received partisan reviews, Trump returned to the United States earlier this week and made up for lost time with a series of questionable tweets. As seen on his Twitter account just after midnight on May 31, Trump tweeted again.

Taking to his Twitter feed early Wednesday morning, Donald Trump sent out a message that left many scratching their heads.

"Despite the constant negative press covfefe," Trump tweeted, in an incomplete message that obviously concluded with a major spelling error.

Twitter reacts

In response to Donald Trump's odd late-night tweet, social media users quickly mocked and trolled the billionaire real estate mogul over his error. "OH MY GOD YOU DUMB DRUNK IDIOT," Ben David Grabinski tweeted, before asking, "didn't they say your lawyers were handling all your tweets now?"

"You might want to ask your personal doctor, the Area 51 guy from Independence Day, to give you a lower dose on your 'hair pills,' bud," Johnny McNulty wrote on Twitter.

"Covfefe," writer Mark Pygas sarcastically tweeted, while adding, "And you wonder why you get negative press covfefe."

"This is the most fu**ing sense he's made in months," another Twitter user humorously wrote.

"DRUNK TWEETING," comedian Kristina Wong tweeted, before adding, "YOU SHOULDN'T EAT THE SECOND SCOOP OF ICE CREAM." As of press time, the tweet was still active on Donald Trump's personal Twitter account as social media users continued to pile on with their trolling of the commander in chief.
