Melania Trump has not yet moved into the White House and stays in Trump Tower with her son but, she took the opportunity of International Women’s Day to gradually get into the role of the First Lady by inviting a select group of women for lunch at the White House.
Melania Trump opens up
It was an invitation-only luncheon, and the First Lady spoke to the guests from a podium in the State Dining Room.
She spoke on issues that pertain to not only women but also to society as a whole. CNN reports that she focused on atrocities that women faced all over the world and touched upon subjects like human trafficking. She also talked about equality and freedom and stressed that women are responsible and should join hands with others to achieve success.
First daughter Ivanka Trump was present and, although it was a women-only affair, President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence dropped in briefly for the luncheon.
First Lady’s message
Melania Trump explained to the gathering that women must come together to fight for the cause and rid the world of evils like forced enslavement, sexual abuse and absolute repression that affect women and girls everywhere.
These women must be rescued from the pathetic circumstances they live in.
The First Lady made it a point to stress on education which is the need of the hour. In her opinion, educating the girls and women can pave the way to a society where gender inequality will not be there. It will also promote and ensure women's rights. She pledged to extend all necessary support towards this cause and added that empathy, respect, and kindness are important to meet this goal.
Cyber bullying is another aspect that is close to her heart, and she wants to tackle that and other such issues that relate to women. She feels that working with UN Women for Peace Association can be an option to impart education that will, in turn, help to strengthen the importance of tolerance irrespective of race, gender or culture.
Her future plans
First Lady Melania Trump is expected to move to Washington at the end of the school session of her 10-year-old son Barron, and the next major event that she has ahead of her is the annual East Egg Roll on the South Lawn of the White House.
