Models grace the runway of the world’s biggest chocolate show and wear dresses made from this sumptuous dessert. The show is being held in Paris, France from October 28 to November 1 and will also feature various chocolate recipes, Lonely Planet reported.

Dubbed the “Salon Du Chocolat,” the show features more than 200 chocolate makers and pastry chefs from various parts of the world who share their knowledge in the industry. Around 60 countries are represented to present their recipes and facilitate gourmet workshops with free tastings.

Some of these personalities include patissier Yann Couvreur and contemporary artist Richard Orlinski.

They are set to join other pastry chefs to share their secrets and launch a “monumental chocolate surprise.”

Fashion show

As the event kicked off, a fashion show was held that featured models wearing cocktail dresses and long gowns made with real dark and white chocolate. Many of the outfits also included intricate cuts and designs made with this dessert.

This year’s show focuses on the theme, “Are the chocolatiers and patissiers the New Adventurers?” It is being held at the Porte de Versailles. This venue is an exhibition center in the French capital and is the largest exhibition park in the European country.

The tickets for the show have different prices for adults and children under 12 years old.

Children under three-years-old receive free admission. Paris is famous for its restaurants that sell cakes and desserts from skilled chefs that offer them to international consumers.

Activities and awards

Aside from the gourmet workshops and runway shows, Salon Du Chocolat has various activities lined up this year. It features dessert sculptures, live performances from countries that produce cocoa, pastry workshops, book signings, and talks.

Exhibitors are also welcome to present their products.

The show holds competition events such as The Chocolate Awards and The International Cocoa Awards, the official website explains. The former pays tribute to the best makers in the world and recognizes creators for their excellence. It was held on October 28.

Meanwhile, the International Cocoa Awards recognizes cocoa and the countries of origin.

Several countries will present their crops to both the makers and the media. This year, around 150 cocoa samples will be presented during the event. Spearheaded by Biodiversity International and Event International, it will be held on October 30 with farmers from various nations.
