"Destiny 2's" Bungie is in hot water yet again after their latest "This Week At Bungie" blog post announced that they’ll be making huge changes (nerfs to be exact) in “Destiny 2’s” Sandbox come Season of Opulence. This has prompted the game developer to address their decision as their gaming community expressed their ire about the upcoming update.

Popular Exotics getting nerfed

Per Bungie’s newest blog post, it revealed that some of the game’s popular weapons and armor pieces will be nerfed by the time season 7 goes live. These weapons/armor pieces include:

Whisper of the Worm

  • Instead of creating it, White Nail will be pulling ammo from reserves.
  • Reserve ammo will be upped to 18 minus the ammo reserve perks.

Sleeper Simulant

  • Ricochet damage on boss combatants will be reduced
  • Modified precision behavior will remain unchanged, though the weapon’s non-precision shots will be “more forgiving.”

Lord of Wolves

  • PvE damage will be nerfed by 20 percent.
  • Its weapon perk – Release the Wolves will be getting a rework
  • It will no longer be automatically triggered on kill. Instead, it will be activated by holding reload which is similar to Borealis and Hard Light’s The Fundamentals.
  • Both range bonuses and PvE damage of the perk will be replaced by a universal damage bonus.

Ace of Spades

  • Its weapon perk Memento Mori will be turned off once the hand cannon is stowed.
  • Its PvP damage bonus will also be getting a nerf to prevent two-tapping Guardians while One-Eyed Mask’s Vengeance perk was active.
  • The perk will be active for six shots again.

As for the armor pieces, Bungie stated that they’re zeroing in on pieces that have super-generating abilities:

  • Orpheus Rigs, Skull of Dire Ahamkara, and Phoenix Protocol – devs made it rarer to get a fully charged super on these pieces as these will get energy supers back with diminishing returns.
  • Both Ursa Furiosa and Shards of Galanor will have their super cap gains reduced
  • The Gwisin Vest will have its energy nerfed from 15 percent to eight for eliminating one to two Guardians.

Cozmo’s response

With that in mind, the Destiny community is pretty much disappointed about these looming tweaks as it is very much evident in the game’s social media channels.

It is so much disliked by the player base that a subreddit dedicated to “D2” nerfs has been created (r/NerfTheGame).

Community Manager Cozmo addressed this emerging concern of players over on the game’s subreddit stating that he’ll report all feedback, though he made it clear that the changes will still push through. He went on stating that he’ll continue gathering players’ feedback after they have tried the weapons and armor pieces for themselves.
