"Fortnite Battle Royale" is a free-to-play game, which is one of the biggest reasons why it has broken numerous records since its release in 2017. However, since it's a free game, its developer Epic Games has to rely on players purchasing cosmetic items to make the game profitable and successful. These cosmetic items do not give any competitive advantage to players, but there is no doubt that most of us want to have a fancy skin rather than just be default character.
Cosmetic items in "Fortnite Battle Royale" have made the company a lot of money, but some of those purchases were accidental.
Unfortunately, players do not get a confirmation prompt after they decide to buy something from the store, but this is going to change very soon. Epic Games will add an option to undo Item Shop purchases, but there will be a catch.
Refund system in 'Fortnite'
At the moment, "Fortnite" players can get up to three refunds from the game developer. These refunds can be used for any purchase of a cosmetic item, but players can only have items refunded that have been purchased within 30 days. After doing a refund, players receive their V-Bucks back to their account. Epic Games also allows real-money refunds, but it is necessary to use the website to do this.
Even with the refund system, some players are not happy and would like the game creator to do something about accidental purchases.
Reddit user SpicyHabanero69 has found out that the Japanese version of "Fortnite Battle Royale" has a confirmation button, and has asked the game developer why they haven't added it to the other versions of the game.
One of the developers responded to the user, saying that the Japanese version has this due to X and O buttons being swapped by default on PlayStation 4.
A record was also beaten on the console. However, it turns out that Epic Games will soon release an undo purchase button for the game. This button will have its limitations, as players will be able to use it only five minutes after making a purchase. In addition, players will not be able to use the button if they start a match.
Release date
At the moment, it is unknown when Epic Games will release this Item Shop change. However, another update will be released this week, so it won't be surprising if it's added with it. While many players agree that a confirmation button would be a better option, there is no doubt that the upcoming change will prevent a lot of accidental purchases in "Fortnite Battle Royale." A March 6 update also brought improvements.
