For years, fans all over the world have been waiting to hear news from Valve whether the popular co-op zombie survival title “Left 4 Dead 3” is in the works or will be released. However, it seems that this might not happen in the near future. Interestingly, a new game, titled “World War Z,” of the same genre is scheduled to debut next year. And, it might just be the right game to fill the gap that the popular zombie survival title has left.
Latest news
Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch, in a recent interview, shared that the team is going to release the game titled “World War Z” in 2019. The game is based on the novel and promises to bring a fresh take in the co-op zombie survival genre. The upcoming title is loaded to the brim with masses of zombies that will not stop at anything just to get their food.
Details of the game
Saber Interactive designed an environment wherein players will battle against more than 500 zombies. They have to survive the horde by using traps, class abilities, and environmental hazards. The upcoming title created the horde AI that enables the zombies to act with a hive mind.
They can pile up and build bridges using their bodies, as well as span gaps and scale walls. Saber Interactive designed the Swarm Engine to solidify the look of zombies on the move in massive numbers. Players can team up with other players to fight against waves of ravenous undead.
The inspiration
Matt Karch, in his interview with GamesBeat, revealed that they are big fans of the popular title “Left 4 Dead” and revealed that this is evident in some of the videos that they released. The CEO also disclosed that they hope to create an experience that reflected that same experience. He said that the popular zombie game inspired them to do the game.
Karch also revealed that they did not see any of the popular titles in the pipeline.
This made them want to seize the opportunity to make a whole new experience for players. They intend to make this experience an evolution of what players of “Left 4 Dead 1” and “Left 4 Dead 2” has experienced.
The absence of “Left 4 Dead 3” has left many zombie survival fans searching and waiting for an appropriate replacement. “World War Z” is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in 2019. The game will go toe to toe against SIE Bend Studio and Sony’s upcoming IP titled “Days Gone.”
