Epic Games added the Infinity Blade to "Fortnite Battle Royale" with the v7.01 patch on Tuesday, December 11. The blade came from "Infinity Blade," another video game by the same developer. This game was extremely popular on mobile devices, which is why Epic Games decided to mix it up with "Fortnite." However, the video game creator has received negative feedback for this move, and there weren't many players who enjoyed the blade.
The blade was incredibly powerful and it almost guaranteed a victory for whoever was wielding it. This was a Mythic item, which means that it was one rarity above Legendary items, making it the most powerful item in the video game history.
Fortunately, Epic Games listened to the community and all the negative feedback, which is why the Infinity Blade was removed only three days after its release.
Fortnite developer explains why the blade was removed
The Infinity Blade granted its wielder 200 health and 200 shield, which is the double what regular players have. Additionally, the sword allowed wielders to move 30 percent faster, as well as to regenerate one point of health or shield each second. Its primary attack dealt 75 damage, while the alternate fire was capable of dealing 25 damage to enemies, as well as allowing players to quickly travel around the map.
What makes the Mythic blade even stronger is the fact that players were able to use it to harvest resources and build.
While using balloons was a decent counter-attack strategy against the blade, it was hard to deal any significant damage to sword wielders while they were turtling and hiding themselves behind structures. This is why Epic Games had decided to nerf the blade and remove harvesting and building abilities. However, the developer eventually decided to completely get rid of the Mythic item.
Heya folks,

We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game.
The Infinity Blade has been Vaulted and we are re-evaluating our approach to Mythic items.
Thanks for calling us out on this!
As you can see in the tweet above, Epic Games admitted the mistake and thanked players for calling them out on the issue.
"We messed up and rolled out the Infinity Blade overpowered / without good counters, especially in the end game," the developer posted.
Will Infinity Blade return?
It is important to note that vaulted items may return to the game at some time. This is what happened with numerous items, which means there is a chance that we see the return of the Infinity Blade as well. However, there is no doubt that if this happens, Epic Games will do a better job and make the item less powerful.
