The latest updates for "Red Dead Redemption 2" reveal the game length of the prequel's campaign mode. Rockstar Games founder Dan Houser discussed new details about the open-world western game during an interview with Vulture.
The official Microsoft website also revealed the possible file size of the prequel for players to install on the Xbox One console. "Red Dead Redemption 2" will have players assume the role of Arthur Morgan, a veteran member of the Van der Linde gang and they are on the run from the law and bounty hunters. Arthur must travel, hunt, and kill his way to the top and survive the harsh and cruel world of the Old West.
60 hours of story mode
According to Dan Houser, players can finish "Red Dead Redemption 2's" campaign mode in roughly 60 hours and it is safe to assume that this does not include the game's numerous side-quests. Houser added that he and Rockstar also took out five hours of extra content within the story, which revealed that Arthur had a second love interest.
"They (Morgan’s second love interest) were never going to work technically or be quite slick enough, or they felt superfluous," Houser told Vulture. "We removed a mission on a train where you had to deal with bounty hunters, because it was fun at first, but then it wasn’t."
Despite removing some extra content, Rockstar Games stated that the decision was worth it as they believe that the fans will be more engaged in doing activities on the seven map locations within the game.
Doing side-quests and in-game activities will allow players' test out their skills such as hunting, poker, trading, and even gunfights.
The Dead Eye system has been updated as players can now stop time and fire at vital points on their enemies such as legs, arms, shoulders, and more. They can also use it to shoot down combustible objects such as dynamite and explosive barrels for increased damage.
File size for the Xbox One
According to Game Rant, Microsoft listed "RDR2" of having 88.57 GB of download file size and video game fans need to have a lot of space for them to download it. It was previously reported that the game is at 105 GB on the PlayStation 4 Pro bundle.
Regardless, the game's file size is still considered to be largest in all of Rockstar's titles surpassing "Grand Theft Auto 5" at 65 GB.
The game will also have its own online multiplayer mode, "Red Dead Online" and it said that the player count is twice as big as the first game (16 players) and "GTA Online" (30 players).
"RDR2" will launch on October 26 on the PS4 and Xbox One.
