The latest updates for "Overwatch" reveal the announcement of a new gameplay mechanic, and several characters being nerfed and buffed within the game. Blizzard Entertainment streamed a new development update and game director Jeff Kaplan announced the "Avoid as Teammate" feature for Video Games fans who wished avoid a particular player in the community.

The feature will be very useful to detect certain players who are ruining a good game session, especially those who are in the rank matches and tournaments. Blizzard also announced gameplay changes for "Overwatch" characters D.Va, Reaper, Zenyatta, and Mei.

New game mechanic

According to Jeff Kaplan, the "Avoid a Teammate" feature will allow a player to warn other "Overwatch" players to avoid a particular competitor who is causing all sorts of problems during a match. Considering that the game is a team-based shooter, teamwork is an important aspect of it, but most players tend to get their way and not coordinate with other players to win a match.

The feature will block this player from joining a team for seven days, although the system may put them to the opposing team. After seven days, the player will now be able to participate in the game or wait for someone to unblock them before reaching the seventh day period.

Players are only allowed to block two people at a time in "Overwatch" and Kaplan assures gaming fans that it will not be a problem for medium-skilled competitors.

However, high-ranking players are worried that blocking a person on the team could lead to a certain disadvantage such as not having enough players to compete in a match.

Nerfs and Buffs

Blizzard Entertainment is testing out new gameplay changes for four characters in "Overwatch" and they are D.Va, Zenyatta, Reaper, and Mei. Both D.Va and Zenyatta have been nerfed in terms of damage from their special attacks.

D.Va's explosive damage to her Micro Missles has been reduced from six percent to four percent, as the developers felt that the latter's burst potential is too high.

Zenyatta's Orb of Destruction has been reduced to 15 percent damage, citing that his alternate burst damage is too high. The overall damage will be the same but lowers the DPS slightly and makes it harder to hit multiple shots at very long ranges.

As for Reaper and Mei, both characters have been buffed in the game. Mei's Endothermic Blaster can now be pierced through multiple targets and makes it easier for her to freeze enemy groups. However, her piercing shots will no go through shielded characters and barrier users.

Reaper can now reload after using his Death Blossom ultimate and his Wraith form has increased movement speed from 25 to 50 percent.
