Spring is fast approaching, and coming with it are some of the most anticipated games of the new year. Xbox One’s latest releases include games like "Kirby Star Allies, Scribblenauts Showdown," and even "Devil May Cry 5" HD Collection.
Being released are some sequels to long-running game franchises, and there are also a lot of new indie games that are set to launch, according to a Game Debate poll, one which had gamers everywhere biting their nails in anticipation.
5.) A Way Out
Starting off at number five on our list is the upcoming action-adventure game, "A Way Out." Players are required to join with others, whether that be online or split-screen co-op multiplayer mode.
You can either command Leo or Vincent, two convicts on a mission to break out of prison while evading detection.
According to Wikipedia, “Players need to cooperate with each other in order to progress. For instance, during a prison escape scene, one player needs to distract the guard, while another player needs to find a tool to aid their escape."
These roles aren't set in stone, though. You can swap characters in another playthrough if you'd like.
"A Way Out" is currently being developed by Hazelight and published by Electronic Arts. The release date is set for March 23, 2018.
4.) Fear Effect Sedna
Another indie game and the third installment in the "Fear Effect" series is Fear Effect Sedna.
The Fear Effect franchise has been asleep for some time, so Sedna is a welcoming sight.
Gameplay is third-person isometric, which may be off-putting for some. Some characters remain the same as we follow Hana, Rain, Glas, and newcomer Deke to adventure back into the spirit world and take on brand new challenges.
"Fear Effect" Sedna was developed by Sushee and published by Forever Entertainment under license from Square Enix Collective, and set to be released on March 6, 2018.
Sushee is also currently developing a remastered version of the original game called Fear Effect Reinvented.
3.) Assassin's Creed Rogue: Remastered
You play Shay Patrick Cormac, a confident member of the Assassin Brotherhood. While on a perilous mission, things take an unexpectedly tragic turn, and you turn your back on those you once called brothers.
Now as an outcast and a bounty on your head, your only goal is to destroy your enemies and kill anyone who fails to stay out of your path.
There were rumors that "Assassin’s Creed: Rogue" was going to be remastered, but Ubisoft finally confirmed it with a new trailer [VIDEO]. Some new features to look out for include high-resolution textures, along with other graphical enhancements.
Developed by Ubisoft, "Assassin’s Creed: Rogue Remastered" is set to be released March 20, 2018.
2.) Far Cry 5
Another first-person action-adventure, "Far Cry 5" looks a lot like previous installments, as it is an open world environment. However, instead of playing an exact storyline, "Far Cry 5" presents a new idea where everything you do leads to facing the boss of the region.
Newest features include a new character creator, renewed emphasis on close-range combat, and the introduction of a larger range of melee weaponry. You can also recruit region locals to fight beside you, a throwback to the buddy system used in "Far Cry 2."
"Far Cry 5" was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The release date is set for March 27, 2018.
1.) Agony
Finally, number one on the list is the survival-horror game, "Agony". Players start the first-person journey caught in the flaming depths of Hell, as a tortured soul. Without any memories of the past, you must brave unrelenting environments, encounter bone-chilling terrors, solve puzzles to open new areas and master the power to control tragic souls and devils alike.
Your only chance of escaping this hellish ordeal is meeting the Red Goddess.
On Game Debate’s poll, players counted this indie game as the most highly anticipated March release out of nine other games.
Developed by MadMind Studio and published by PlayWay, Agony is set to be released worldwide on March 30, 2018.
