Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel's friendship is one that all humanity should strive for. On Tuesday, late-night talk show host Kimmel appeared on DeGeneres’ show to discuss the upcoming Oscars. The longtime friends chatted and shared laughs over several past events - one of which included when Michelle Obama had to witness the aftermath of a hilarious special cameo by show host-turned-figure skater Kimme, and one lucky banana.

Ellen knows Jimmy's history

Yes, Kimmel is known for his crazy antics, but this funnyman also has an emotional side. He is often seen passionately expressing his opinion about various current events and topics, including the recent school shooting in Florida that left 17 people dead.

Kimmel admitted, “It's embarrassing to me, I try not to cry.” He goes on to mention that he even pinches his hand to keep from crying. Nonetheless, when it comes to his little boy, he is especially vulnerable.

Last year, Kimmel addressed his audience on air and delivered a tear-jerking announcement that his newborn son, Billy, was born with a heart defect that required him to have open-heart surgery just hours after he was born. The operation would go on to be successful, but another one would be needed later in that year when Billy was a little older. Kimmel's experience pushed him to speak out publicly about the changes that need to be made within the American healthcare system, demanding that more action is taken and stating the critical need for donations.

During both operations, DeGeneres and her viewers raised over one million dollars in Billy’s name, which left Kimmel gratefully humbled. This time, Ellen's latest gift to Kimmel had even the audience members feeling warm and fuzzy inside.

An emotional gift

"We called our friends at Children's Hospital of L.A., including Billy's surgeon"," Ellen says to Kimmel, "and we have named one of the rooms of the Heart Institute floor in honor of Billy."

Kimmel can be seen trying to keep his composure, and he turns to Ellen with a kiss on her cheek.

As he wipes a stray tear from his eye, Ellen goes on to say, “This room will forever be the Billy Kimmel room.”

Ellen also mentions that several of Billy's nurses were in the attendance, to the pleasant Surprise of Kimmel and audience members.

Ellen DeGeneres is well known for her gracious gifting, but I am positive that this will go down in the history of Ellen as one of her most generous gifts.
