It was a busy weekend for Capcom as they hosted the South East Asian Major 2017 tournament in Singapore. The event featured several fighting games like “Street Fighter V (SFV),” “Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite,” “Tekken 7,” “Injustice 2,” and much more. The event featured high-level gameplay from international players and local participants alike. Game producer Yoshinori Ono was also in attendance to officially reveal the last remaining DLC fighter for “SFV,” which was not really a big surprise for everyone given the obvious leaks earlier this year.
Nevertheless, the game’s Season 2 finally ends as Zeku is unveiled along with some unexpected surprises.
Zeku closes Season 2 for ‘Street Fighter V’
According to Capcom Zeku will be available to download for Season Pass holders on October 24, 2017. Players with enough Fight Money can also unlock the new character for free. Gamers eager to learn about his move-list and frame data can expect the developer to share details more details soon. A trailer that showcases the new fighter was also shared together with a short description of his background. They confirm that he is a former master of Guy, who taught him the ways of Bushinryu, a unique style of Ninjutsu. His position as the master was eventually lost when his pupil defeated him in combat to earn “the title of 39th Master of Bushinryu.”
First appearance in the series
Last year, Yoshinori Ono revealed that all of the DLC fighters in the second season for “SFV” except for Akuma, will be brand new to the fighting game franchise.
Kolin, Ed, Abigail, and most recently Menat, all made their debut in the game’s fifth installment. Zeku, on the other hand, made a brief appearance during Guy’s ending in “Street Fighter Alpha 2.” However, this would be his first time being a playable character in the series.
Fighting style
Similar to Guy, Zeku fights using the Bushinryu technique along with a twist.
Capcom notes that the latter “has reappeared looking to start his own ninja group and find a new fighting style.” Surprisingly, he has the ability to change his form into what seems to be his younger self. While in his original appearance, his movement is noticeably slower but also deals more damage. After transformation, his speed and attacks behave differently and perhaps more combo potential.
It is presumed that his V-Skill is the transformation technique, while his V-Trigger grants him increased mobility, a teleport dash, and new special attacks.

Capcom Cup 2017, Season 2, and ‘Arcade Edition’
It’s interesting to see what Zeku has to offer in the hands of a capable player. Some members of the professional fighting game circuit have already suggested that Xian, a former Gen user and EVO champion, will most likely favor the new “Street Fighter V” fighter. Capcom still has more in store for its fans at the Capcom Cup 2017 tournament this December. We can expect Yoshinori Ono to give everyone a glimpse of what’s in store for Season 3 and the “Arcade Edition” update next year.
