A few days ago, user Vánagandr used "Overwatch" forums to talk about the Game Developers. The user wondered if the game doesn't have enough developers since some bugs take a lot of time to be fixed. Furthermore, the forum poster argued that there are not a lot of forum posts made by Blizzard employees, which indicates that there may not be enough people in "Overwatch's" team.

While the user may have a point, fixing bugs and responding to players in a timely manner is easier said than done. Vánagandr's forum post drew a lot of attention and it actually earned him a response by a Blizzard employee. This time, it was none other than "Overwatch" game director, Jeff Kaplan. Kaplan took a lot of time to respond to the post, writing a lot of details and making players understand why it sometimes seems that the game developers aren't doing their job.

Jeff Kaplan's response

Jeff Kaplan posted a lengthy response on the forums, which really put things into perspective. He revealed that "Overwatch" started with a team of 70 developers, but there are now over 100 of them.

He also wrote that they are constantly looking for more people, and everyone is welcome to apply for an open position on the team.

Kaplan said that the game developers try their best to make the game enjoyable, but they understand that they don't always do the right thing. As a matter of fact, he mentioned that no one of them thinks the game is perfect.

However, the most revealing part of Kaplan's post was the part in which he wrote that "Overwatch" community is scary. "Developers speak to you directly, using our real names," wrote the game developer. "And if you'll allow me to speak openly for a moment -- it's scary." He went on to explain that a lot of developers avoid posting in the forums because it's extremely intimidating and some of them were personally attacked and threatened.

'Overwatch' team works hard

Jeff Kaplan also wrote that, even though the developers sometimes don't post in the forums, they always give their best and work hard to provide the best experience to "Overwatch" players. He added that they pay close attention, not only to the community, but also to the game itself.

He did, however, encourage players to post their feedback. "Player feedback is what has made this game great," wrote Kaplan. The game director also said that the team appreciates feedback when it is expressed in a constructive and open way.
