“Overwatch” has one of the most interesting competitive feature in all of MOBA. This is thanks to a lot of factors, one being the character roster. But in every competitive season, there are new things to learn and apply.
Currently, “Overwatch” players are enjoying the current season (5th). However, the clock is already ticking and its end date is near. Well, here is everything about it in a nutshell.
Season 5 end date
According to Mic, the end date of the fifth season of Competitive Play is fast approaching. It is set to end come August 28 at 8 PM ET, which is the exact date and time Summer Games event ends.
This is where players need to boost their plays if they want to end the season with a bang. It is worth noting that Blizzard announced it already on the game’s official forum site. So, in one way or another, this is already final.
It is worth noting that in playing “Overwatch” Competitive Play, the ranks are defined based on the amount of SR (Skill Ratings) that players earned. For instance, 100 CP is equivalent to 1 to 1,499 SR (Bronze). For 200 CP, it is 1,500 to 1,999 SR (Silver). For Gold and Platinum, the SRs are 2,000 to 2,499 and 2,500 to 2,999, respectively. As for the Diamond rank, it sits at 3,000 to 3,499 while Master is to 3,500 to 3,999. Lastly, the Grandmaster tier is attainable from 4,000 to 5,000 SR.
Season 6 start date
Little has been known about the new season in “Overwatch” Competitive Play. However, it is very likely to follow the same pattern that Blizzard has been using since the first season. If this is true then the forthcoming season might start on August 31 at 8 PM ET. Apparently, though, the studio has yet to announce any changes for the forthcoming season.
It is worth noting that prior to the launching of season 5, the company announced the changes made to the SR system. While some find the newly revamped feature acceptable, many were skeptical. This was perhaps due to the fact that Blizzard did not entirely explain how the system works.
In a report from IGN, Blizzard revealed that the key to earning plenty of SR in “Overwatch” is through win streaks.
The more players win consecutive matches, the more likely they will rank higher. However, losing can also prove to be menacing. The studio explained that same as winning, losing will result in a significant decrease in SR. Meanwhile, players are enjoying the return of the popular Summer Games event. New skins and cosmetic items, among others, were introduced. More importantly, Lucioball is back.
