The action adventure hack-and-slash video game “Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” is the latest game from the developer Ninja Theory. The game’s storyline is based on Norse mythology and Celtic mythology. The game is focused on the point of view of Melina Juergens, the actress who plays the role Senua. The main character Senua will be going on a personal journey through a hellish underworld that was made out of her mind’s psychotic manifestations.

Not a typical game

A typical game is where players go to the nearest checkpoint or starting point if they die or fail to do a certain mission.

In “Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” players should watch out and be very careful not to die too many times. According to IGN, the fights in the game will give players a tense experience because dying in or out of combat will cause the saved game to be deleted, and force the players to start from the very beginning.

Ninja Theory’s smart and creative design for “Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” reinforces the sensory nature of the heroin tale through subtle and intuitive mechanics. The developer truly made a wonderful job with its new game. The realistic and wide-range use of audio and visual distortion convey the frightening effects of the main character’s psychosis, hallucinations and delusions.

No HUD and combat tutorials

There is no HUD (head-up display) in the game. Players can only hear a course of voices that will panic-advice the main character to help her face her enemies. There is no combat or fight tutorial in the game, players should find out the combos on their own. There is also no combat marker or mini-map in the game

“Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” is a kind of game that players should not trust easily because what the players commonly see, hear or feel is rarely truthful.

There are a lot of moments where players might experience terrifying tension that could make them feel anxious or uncomfortable.

The game will revolve on the main character’s perception of her environment. Players should explore each area carefully because the world around Senua takes on signs and mysterious puzzles. As the players progress through the game, there will also be new layers of death to face.

“Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice” was announced at Sony's Gamescom event at 2014. The game was officially launched on August 8, 2017 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 platform. Ninja Theory is also the English game studio that created the games “Devil May Cry,” “Heavenly Sword,” and “Enslaved.”
