“ARK: Survival Evolved” is fast approaching its full release later this month on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Amid the hype surrounding its imminent arrival, fans can’t help but wonder what happens next after the full game finally launches on August 29.

Promise of post-launch support

In its most recent issue of Ark Digest, Studio Wildcard makes a promise, however, that it will continue to provide support for the development of “ARK: Survival Evolved” even after its release. It is saying “yes” as a response to fans’ doubts whether they will still receive additional content to the base game post-launch.

It will come in the form of gameplay and optimization improvements, stuff to craft, QOL, new friends to tame, and so on. These sets of future contents will arrive as either free updates or paid and free DLCs for the popular action-adventure and survival video game.

What’s coming on launch day

But at the moment, the development team is offering a chock full of significant new features to include in the base game on launch day. The studio announced that apart from the other inclusions confirmed earlier, the base game will include TEK gear and a new creature as well.

Addition of the Otter

On August 29, players will be meeting a new creature to tame in The Island known as the Lutra Peloso. This otter is one of the few creatures that can give companionship and when tamed, can be one’s best buddy.

What makes the Lutra Peloso unique is it likes to rest on the back instead of traveling beside his companion, thus giving some protection. It can also go fishing, search for silica pearls with a small chance at getting black pearls.

TEK Gear

Players will also be getting TEK gear addition in the full version of the game. This will include the TEK Sword, the TEK Shield, and the TEK Light.

The TEK Sword has a dash-charge attack and is also capable of armor piercing while the TEK Shield can block splash damage and can throw back approaching projectiles or bullets. The TEK Light, on the other hand, is self-powered by elemental glasses or it can also be charged to generators.

This dinosaur action-adventure survival title is currently developed and published by Studio Wildcard in collaboration with Instinct Games, Efecto Studios, and Virtual Basement.

Pre-order of “ARK: Survival Evolved” is currently available at a price of $59.99 USD. Its full launch on Xbox One, PS4, and PC/Steam is happening on August 29, 2017.
