Niantic recently released two Legendary Pokemon, Articuno, and Lugia, at the Chicago Grant Park event. Even though the event had a rough start because players had problems logging in, players are still glad that they finally had the chance to capture a legendary creature. Legendary Pokemon are very strong creatures, and it is still unknown how many players are required to defeat one. But each legendary has its raid counters.

Best counters for Articuno

Articuno is an ice and flying type Pokemon, and it represents team Mystic. It has 37603 CP and a 1676 max capture CP.

This legendary creature cannot be defeated by soloing. But it can be defeated easily if players have the right move set for their counters.

According to Pokemon GO Hub, the best way to face Articuno is by using Omastar that has a Rock Throw/Rock Slide move set. Articuno also takes a lot of damage from rock, fire, steel and electric type Pokemon such as Flareon, Arcanine, Typhlosion, Blissey, Tyranitar, and Scizor. These type of Pokemon also takes reduced damage from Articuno’s ice type attacks.

Best counters for Lugia

Lugia is a psychic and flying type Pokemon, and its strong counters are only a few. It has 42753 CP and a 2056 max capture CP. The best way to face Lugia is by using Tyranitar that has a Bite/Stone Edge move set.

Lugia takes a lot of damage from dark, ice, electric, ghost and rock type Pokemon such as Tyranitar, Golem, Jinx, Gengar, Magneton, and Jolteon. These types of Pokemon also take reduced damage from Lugia’s attacks. Players should also watch out for Lugia’s Hydro Pump attack because it will easily defeat any creatures that are vulnerable to water.

Niantic recently announced that some of the legendary birds like Moltres and Zapdos would be released soon. Moltres represents team Valor and it will be released on July 31, 2017, and will be available through August 7. Zapdos will be released on August 7, 2017, and will be available through August 14.
