It’s already been five years since the Nintendo Switch launched and so far, the console has yet to experience any noticeable sluggishness in sales despite all the challenges. The same goes for Switch games that have outperformed previous ones on the console’s predecessor.

The Switch’s library is already stockpiled with bangers, for sure. But those coming up in 2022 look to make an even bigger bang. Here is a shortlist of the most anticipated Switch games next year.

1

‘Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ (TBD 2022)

When has a new ‘Pokemon’ game ever failed to capture the attention of countless people around the globe? As such, the upcoming ‘Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ already has countless fans clamoring for its release in 2022. The RPG hits the rewind button on the lore, taking it back to a time where there was no Pokedex for archiving the elusive beasts. It’s up to the player to change all of that by exploring a fully open world to examine, catch and battle Pokemon.

2

‘The Legend of Zelda: BOTW’ sequel (TBD 2022)

‘The Legend of Zelda: BOTW’ blew many away with its colorful open world and survival mechanics, selling over 24 million copies as of Sep. 2021. And its upcoming sequel could perform just as well. Set in the same luscious world, the untitled sequel introduces new mechanics that include time manipulation and matter phasing, to say the least. However, there’s not a lot known about the story in this one yet.

3

‘Bayonetta 3’ (TBD 2022)

It has been a whopping 5 years since its ambiguous announcement. But ‘Bayonetta’ fans can rest easy now that the highly anticipated threequel was finally revealed with a launch window. The titular Umbra Witch has returned with a new style and some new tricks, including fighting alongside her gigantic summons. Here’s hoping that ‘Bayonetta 3’ launches as early as Spring.

4

‘Splatoon 3’ (TBD 2022)

The inklings and octolings are set to return in 2022 for more competitive shootouts on the Nintendo Switch. Unlike “certain shooters” out there, ‘Splatoon 3’ will feature both its single-player and competitive online multiplayer modes. This time around, however, players can expect a new hub called “Splatsville” to explore, new enemies to fight in the single-player campaign, and new weapons to play with.

5

‘Dying Light 2 Stay Human’ (Feb 4, 2022)

‘Dying Light Platinum Edition’ became a Switch game back in October, which came as a total shock to many Switch fans. But an even bigger surprise was that the sequel to the ever-popular parkour-driven, zombie survival horror game is also coming in February via the cloud. Hopefully, ‘Dying Light 2 Stay Human’ lives up to the same expectations fans have for the downloadable versions.
